A New Radio Comedy from The Writing Monkeys
The Wee Cook on the A303 is a busy roadside cafe. Close to Stonehenge, it is often full of visitors and regulars.
Alan travels up and down the A303, selling secret Government stock. Or, at least, that’s what he suggests to anyone who might believe him. No one does. He’s a womaniser and a braggart. He probably has a wife and four kids at home!
Mason, the 30 something manager of The Wee Cook, is terminally lazy and as camp as a stack of ducks. His fashion sense would make Gok Wan weep –and that’s before he saw the terrifying ties!
Charlie, the ‘Jolly Hockey Sticks’ Area Manager, keeps him in check and toeing the line. Mason shares the misery with
the rest of the staff and passes the blame whenever possible.
Becks is the best cook that side of the M3. It is her wonderful home cooking which brings the regulars back over and over again. She has an enthusiastic social life, which we often hear about from her and some of the regulars!
Her pot-washer, Paige, is possibly the most intellectually disadvantaged person ever to enter catering. Poor Paige – she can’t quite work out what’s going on!
Nikki - efficient and friendly - has waitressed at The Wee Cook for many years. She puts up with Mason's shenanigans and silliness because someone’s got to keep the place running!
She is ably assisted by Jack, the new waiter. They get along really well. It’s just a shame they were born a generation
apart!
